Issue/Introduction

Learn how to download products and solutions for Broadcom's Mainframe, Enterprise, and Symantec Enterprise Security software divisions.

Note: To download a product or solution, you must be a registered user on the Broadcom Support portal. You also need a Support Site ID and active contract for the products and solutions you want to download. If you need help obtaining or locating your Broadcom Support ID, see Manage Broadcom Site IDs or upgrade your account or Add additional Site IDs to your Broadcom profile.

Product downloads

To download Broadcom products:

  1. Choose the appropriate Download Center on the Broadcom Support Portal.
  2. Log in, if prompted. The Download Center will display the products that are associated with your Site ID.
  3. Search for a product name, or select a product from the list.

  4. In the Product Download tab, select a Release and Service Level for the desired product component.

  5. In the Products column (left side), select the appropriate product component.
  6. Download the product through one of the following methods:
    • Cart - The cart method is useful for downloading multiple files. See Step 7.
    • Download - Immediately download the selected file. See Step 9.
    • FTP - Get details to download through FTP. See Step 9.

  7. If you selected the Cart method, click CART in the top navigation menu.

  8. Verify the component(s) in the cart, and click CHECKOUT to complete the download process.

  9. Download the software using either the HTTP Via Browser or FTP method.

Download Symantec bundles

Both Protection Suite and Endpoint Encryption are bundles; therefore, you must select the version of each specific product to download the software that is available under each of those bundles.

Download Symantec critical updates

On the Symantec Enterprise Security page, notifications for product patches and root certificate files are published under the Critical Update section.

Download CA solutions

Solutions are available under the Solutions tab in the Download Center.

Download a resolving PTF if you encounter a problem and find an appropriate solution, or if it's recommended by Support.

We highly recommend selecting a PTF package since this will allow the creation of a complete fix package. Specifically, one that will include any selected PTFs along with their associated pre-requisite, co-requisite and if-requisite PTFs. You can download either packaged or non-packaged PTFs.

To download Broadcom solutions:

  1. Choose the appropriate Download Center on the Broadcom Support Portal.
  2. Log in, if prompted. The Download Center will display the products that are associated with your Site ID.
  3. Search for a product name, or select a product from the list.
  4. Click the Solution Download tab.
  5. In the Products column (left side), select the appropriate product component, and the appropriate Release (Latest or Older).



  6. Download the product through one of the following methods:
    • Cart - The cart method is useful for downloading multiple files. See Step 7.
    • Download - Immediately download the selected file. See Step 9.
    • FTP - Get details to download through FTP. See Step 9.
  7. Search by solution number, CARS level, operating system, product name, and mainframe keywords. You can also build solution carts by date. See Search solution tips below for more details.



  8. Download the solution through one of the following methods:
    • Cart - The cart method is useful for downloading multiple files.
    • HTTP - Immediately download the selected file.
    • FTP - Get details to download through FTP.

Note: For z/OS products, we recommend that you use SMP/E Receive Order to submit requests for PTFs and HOLDDATA to a remote server. The packages are automatically downloaded to your mainframe system. See Configure SMP/E CA Internet Service Retrieval.

Solution search tips

The Download Management center allows for quick searching and filtering of solutions by solution number, product name, operating system, and so on as shown in the following examples. Use the following search options to locate the solution or solutions that you want to download.

For z/OS products, we recommend that you use SMP/E Receive Order to submit requests for PTFs and HOLDDATA to a remote server. The packages are downloaded automatically to your mainframe system where you can then apply the maintenance you want.

Search solutions by solution number

To quickly find a solution, search the Knowledge Base using the solution ID.

You can also search the Download Center by solution number, after selecting your product and clicking the Solution Download tab.

Select the solution hyperlink, and then select a download option (Cart, HTTP, or FTP).

Search solutions by product name

To search for solutions by product name, enter the product name, and click SEARCH. This option is helpful when the solutions list contains solutions for multiple products.

For example, the IMS Tools solutions list contains solutions for all products in the CA Database Management Solutions for IMS for z/OS. To limit the solution list to only solutions for Database Organizer, specify Database Organizer and select SEARCH.

Search solutions by operating system

To limit the search results in the Download Center to solutions for a specific operating system, enter the operating system, and then click SEARCH.

Search solutions using mainframe keywords

For mainframe software, use the following keywords from the Solutions List in the Download Center to quickly find SMP/E PTF solutions:

  • CARyymm - search for a specific CA Recommended Service Level. For example, CAR2102.
  • HIPER - find PTFs that have been marked as HIPER.
  • PRP - find PTFs that resolve a PTF in error.
  • SPE - find solutions that contain a new feature.
  • PEPTF - find SMP/E solutions that were placed in error.
  • PTFSQL - display PTF solutions only.
  • z/OS - display solutions that have an operating system of z/OS.

For example, enter CAR1910 to display solutions in this CA Recommended Service Level report for the product.

Limit solution search results using the date option

  1. Select the product you want, and then use search filters to find solutions. Specify a date since the last solution was applied, and then click SEARCH.



  2. Select ADD ALL TO CART or add solutions to the cart individually.



  3. If you select ADD ALL TO CART, the cart will contain all solutions that are available since the date selected. After all solutions have been selected, select CART on the toolbar as shown above.
    The solution list that is included in the package is displayed. 

Note: For mainframe products, you are prompted to complete the PTF package with dependent solutions by specifying a date to chain back to. This option ensures that required prerequisite and co-requisite solutions are provided in the package. Then select CHECKOUT to create the zip file.

Important! If the build of a complete chain is not available, do not delete any solutions from the cart as this can cause the installation to fail. Only use delete to remove solutions that you know are not required.

 

Download the zip file from the solution cart directly to the mainframe and UNZIP the solutions into a USS directory (see CAUNZIP procedures).

FTP downloads through third-party applications

You can download Broadcom solutions and products using third-party FTP applications such as FileZilla or WinSCP.
