MSP Error "Run-time error '53' File not found..." due to wrong bit level installed

Issue/Introduction

After installing the Microsoft Project Integration and all of its components, Microsoft Project (MSP) throws the following error: 

Run-time error '53' File not found: caMspXml.dll

Environment

Release : All Supported Releases

Cause

This error message can occur if there is a mismatch between the bit version of Microsoft Project and the MSP Interface. 

• If Microsoft Project is the 32 bit version, install the 32 bit (x86) version of the MSP Interface.
• Similarly, if Microsoft Project is the 64 bit version, install the 64 bit version of the MSP Interface

Resolution

Uninstall the incorrect bit level of the MSP Interface, then install the correct bit level of the Interface that matches the MSP bit level

1. Uninstall the MSP Interface components from Control Panel->Uninstall a Program:

• • CA PPM Microsoft Project Interface 
  • CA PPM Schedule Connect
  • CAClarityAddin

Note: It's recommended to do a clean uninstall if you still run into any further issues. See steps at: Clean uninstall of the MSP interface

     2. Reinstall the MSP Interface with the correct bit level. This can be installed from Clarity in Home->Account Settings->Software Downloads:

• • If your Microsoft Project Bit level is 32 bit download Microsoft Project Interface (x86)
  • If your Microsoft Project Bit level is 64 bit, download Microsoft Project Interface (x64)
