Issue/Introduction

The AIX agent fails to start after an upgrade to version 24.4.5. The startup process terminates with the message: "Binary is running as sgid or suid, LIBPATH cannot be set." This prevents the loading of the libmanagement.so module, causing an initialization failure.

Symptoms:

• Agent startup fails following an upgrade to version 24.4.5.
• Error message: "Binary is running as sgid or suid, LIBPATH cannot be set".
• java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: java.lang.management.ManagementFactory initialization failure.
• UnsatisfiedLinkError regarding /jre/lib/libmanagement.so.

Environment

• Component: AIX Agent
• Version: 24.4.5

Cause

 This issue is identified as a product defect (DE210146) where the agent fails to start when executed as an unprivileged user with the SUID bit set and the binary owned by root.

Resolution

This issue is targeted to be fixed in release 24.4.5 HF2 - TBA and 24.4.6 - TBA.
