Issue/Introduction

When updating Aria Operations (Aria Ops) from 8.18.6 to 8.18.7 using Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager (LCM), the pre-check fails at the cluster status step with error LCMVROPSYSTEM25052.

Symptoms:

  • Upgrade pre-check fails with: VMware Aria Operations services are not up and running, please retry after some time.
  • Aria Operations Admin UI shows the cluster is healthy and accessible.
  • Credentials used for Aria Ops Admin UI are verified to match those in the Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager locker.

Environment

Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager 8.18.0

Aria Operations 8.18.6 > 8.18.7

Cause

  • The Lifecycle Manager appliance is unable to connect to the URL for authorizing the casa admin account, often due to an authentication failure or inventory sync issue.
  • Entries like these are found in /var/log/vrlcm/vmware_vrslcm.log:

INFO vrlcm[1283] [pool-3-thread-28] [c.v.v.l.d.v.VropsConnector] -- url to connect https://<vrops-node>/casa/authorize
ERROR vrlcm[1283] [pool-3-thread-28] [c.v.v.l.p.c.v.t.VropsServiceStatusTask] -- Invalid credentials
com.vmware.vrealize.lcm.plugin.common.vrops.exceptions.VropsServicesNotRunningException: VMware Aria Operations services are not up and running for node

Resolution

  1. Restart the Aria Operations cluster.
  2. Perform an Inventory Sync in Lifecycle Manager to verify connectivity to the cluster.
  3. Attempt the software update again from Lifecycle Manager.

Alternative Resolution: If the Lifecycle Manager update continues to fail, apply the update directly from the Aria Operations Admin UI:

  1. Log in to the Aria Operations Admin UI.
  2. Navigate to Software Update > Install a Software Update.
  3. After the update completes, perform an Inventory Sync in Lifecycle Manager to update the version information.
