Issue/Introduction

After upgrading from Aria Operations 8.18.5 to VCF Operations 9.0.2, management lifecycle functions—including Password Management and Certificate Summary reporting—fail to populate or display in VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.0.2. Additionally, the Security menu is missing in SDDC Manager, and Fleet Management validation fails.

Symptoms:

• "Management Lifecycle is Not Ready" error when accessing the Lifecycle option under Fleet Management in the VCF Operations UI.

• Unable to generate ESXi certificate reports or view Certificate Summary metrics in VCF Operations.

• Password Management UI and Security menu missing in SDDC Manager.

• Exact error during validation: "Component VMware Cloud Foundation Operations fleet management with version 9.0.2.0.25137839 is not compatible with VCF Operations 9.0.2.0200.25431135".

Environment

• VMware Cloud Foundation 9.0.2

• VCF Operations 9.0.2 / 9.0.2.0200

• Upgraded from Aria Operations 8.18.5

• SDDC Manager 9.0.2

• VCF Operations Fleet Management Appliance 9.0.2.x

Cause

In VMware Cloud Foundation 9.0.2, the Certificate Summary metrics and Password Management UI are dependent on the VCF Operations Fleet Management service. Following an upgrade from Aria Operations 8.18.5, management functions fail because the Fleet Management appliance is either missing, unregistered, or running baseline version 9.0.2.0.25137839, which is incompatible with VCF Operations 9.0.2.0200 until patch 9.0.2.0200 is applied.

Resolution

Follow these steps in sequential order to deploy, register, and patch the Fleet Management appliance:

1. Deploy the Fleet Management Appliance: Deploy the VCF Operations Fleet Management OVF following the official Install the VCF Operations Fleet Management Appliance documentation.
   
   
2. Register the Appliance: Navigate to the VCF Operations Admin UI and register the appliance under System Status > Fleet Management > Register.
   
   
3. Apply Patch 9.0.2.0200: Apply the 9.0.2.0200 patch to the Fleet Management appliance to align versions with VCF Operations and resolve the compatibility block. See Upgrade or Update VCF Operations Fleet Management for detailed update instructions.
   
   
4. Verify Service and Collection: Confirm that Fleet Management displays a status of "Ready" in the UI. The VMware Infrastructure Health adapter will begin collecting ESXi certificate metrics, and the Password Management UI and Security menu will populate.
