In VMware vCenter 9.1, users may be unable to save or validate a cluster image within vSphere Lifecycle Manager (vLCM). This typically occurs during or after an upgrade from VCF 9.0.2 to 9.1.0.100, where the software depot metadata becomes inconsistent or missing.
Symptoms:
Software Solution com.vmware.vsphere-wcp with version 9.0.1.32.5.0-25065159 cannot be found in depot.Assign image to a cluster or standalone host: A general system error occurred: "image is not valid"./var/log/vmware/vmware-updatemgr/vum-server/vmware-vum-server.log contains: "id": "com.vmware.vcIntegrity.lifecycle.EsxImage.SolutionNotFound", "default_message": "Software Solution com.vmware.vsphere-wcp with version 9.0.1.32.5.0-25065159 cannot be found in depot."VMware vCenter 9.1
VMware Cloud Foundation 9.1
A VUM database reset can result in the missing file.
Another possible cause is importing a 9.1 ESXi image while the vCenter Server is still at version 9.0.x, leading the depot to expect a vsphere-wcp version that is missing from the offline depot.
1. Obtain the spherelet-depot.zip bundle for version that the vum error is reporting on
"id": "com.vmware.vcIntegrity.lifecycle.EsxImage.SolutionNotFound", "default_message": "Software Solution com.vmware.vsphere-wcp with version 9.0.1.32.5.0-25065159 cannot be found in depot."
If the version the error is BEFORE VCF 9.1 (meaning spherelet is being pulled from a local library or subscribed to our wp-content.broadcom.com repo), then Download said version ie 9.0.1.32.5.0-25065159 from online spherelet repo. (In this example it would be https://wp-content.broadcom.com/supervisor/v1/latest/spherelet-v1.32/spherelet-depot-9.0.1.32.5.0-25065159.zip )
If the version the error is on is on AFTER/ON VCF 9.1 (Meaning spherelet is being pulled from VCF Software Depot), then access the VCF Software Depot via the content library page and find the content library that is subscribed to the Software Depot.
Then click on Other Types.
Then Click on "Export Item" which will download the ZIP (Make sure popups are allowed in the browser)
2. Log in to the vSphere Client.
3. Navigate to Lifecycle Manager > Software Depot > Actions > Import Updates.
4. Browse for the spherelet-depot-XXXXXXXX.zip file, and upload it, then select IMPORT
5. Monitor the task in the Recent Tasks pane until completion.
6. Retry the cluster image validation or save task.
7. If you are still unable to save the image, Contact Broadcom Support
