Issue/Introduction

  • "Import VCF Operations in Fleet Lifecycle" task status is stuck 'Running' progress message shows: The Fleet lifecycle 'Component import' task with ID #### failed. Internal errors: Provided SSL thumbprint '####' does not match the certificate's thumbprint '####'.
  • Prior to this issue, the certificate for VCF Operations for Networks was rotated in accordance with KB: Upgrading VCF 9.0 environment to 9.1 fails when trying to "Import VCF Operations in Fleet Lifecycle"
  • Retrying the VCF Management Components deployment generates duplicate VCF Operations network adapters, which display a warning status under OperateAdministrationIntegrationsAccountsNetwork Adapters in the VCF Operations UI.

Environment

  • VMware Cloud Foundation 9.1.x
  • VCF Operations 9.1.x
  • SDDC Manager 9.1.x
  • VCF Operations for Networks (formerly VMware Aria Operations for Networks/vRNI)

Resolution

  1. Sign into VCF Operations UI
  2. Navigate to OperateAdministrationIntegrations AccountsNetwork Adapters → Identify duplicate adapter instance → Click on 3 dots beside the adapter instance → Click Delete → Uncheck the box 'Delete related objects
  3. Navigate to Operate →  AdministrationTrusted Certificates → Locate certificate entry with VCF OPS NI listed in the column Trusted Objects  → Click 3 dots beside the certificate → Delete 
  4. Navigate to OperateAdministrationIntegrations AccountsNetwork Adapters → Click on original adapter instance → Click Validate Connection → Accept the certificate when prompted → Click Save
  5. Apply the steps in KB "Deploy VCF Management Components" task fails during "Import VCF Operations in Fleet Lifecycle" stage
