vCenter Server updates not visible in VAMI after Broadcom repository transition

Issue/Introduction

When checking for vCenter Server updates in the vCenter Server Appliance Management Interface (VAMI), the dashboard shows no updates available.

The following symptoms occur:

• VAMI shows "No updates available" when "Check Updates" is clicked.

• VAMI update URL settings are configured for the following default URL: Default: https://vapp-updates.vmware.com/vai-catalog/valm/vmw/8d167796-34d5-4899-be0a-6daade4005a3/<current_version>.latest

Environment

Cause

Legacy repository URLs (vapp-updates.vmware.com) are decommissioned. vCenter Server requires a valid Broadcom authenticated download token to access the new Broadcom repository structure at (dl.broadcom.com) for VAMI.

Resolution

Reconfigure the VAMI repository URL to use the new Broadcom repository (dl.broadcom.com) URL following instructions on article vCenter update fails with "The vCenter Server is not able to reach the specified URL. Ensure that the vCenter Server is connected to the internet, the specified URL is correct, and the latest version(s) is available on the VMware online repository.".

Additional Information

Alternate method to update:

1. Manually download the vCenter update ISO and attach the ISO to the vCenter virtual machine. Refer to Download vCenter Server patches and ISOs for latest releases.
