Download vCenter Server patches and ISOs for latest releases

Issue/Introduction

This article provides detailed steps on how to download patches and full releases for vCenter Server from the Broadcom portal. Note that some security patches require accessing release notes for download links rather than standard portal navigation.

Important: Only product versions which you have active licensing for will show up as available for download in the Broadcom Support Portal

Environment

• VMware vCenter Server 7.0.x
• VMware vCenter Server 8.0.x
• VMware vCenter 9.x

Resolution

1. Visit the Broadcom Support Portal Downloads site and sign in.
   
   NOTE: If you do not see "My Downloads- VMware Cloud foundation", you may be on "My Downloads - Enterprise Software". Follow the below image to go to "VMware Cloud Foundation".
   
2. Depending on the product major version:
   • For vCenter Server 7.0.x or 8.0.x, select VMware vSphere from the list of the products or use the search to narrow down the products first.
   • For vCenter 9.x patches or ISOs, select VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF) or VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) instead.
   
3. Choose either the Products or Solutions tab, depending on what specifically should be downloaded:
   • The base build of the current "Update" version will be under Products. E.g. if the latest released version is vCenter Server 8.0 Update 3j, its base version is Update 3 - this is what is found in the Products section.
   • Any minor patches that have been released on top of this specific base version will be found in the Solutions section. Going by the above example, 8.0 Update 3j will be in this section.
   
4. Select the specific license edition the file should be downloaded under.

Products

1. From the dropdown menu>, ensure the correct release to be downloaded is selected.
2. Accept the Terms and Conditions.
3. Click the Download Button next to the type of install media that is needed.
   If the specific version is not visible in this section, try the Solutions Tab instead.
   

Solutions

1. From the dropdown menu, ensure the correct major release to be downloaded is selected.
2. Click the link for the specific version that should be downloaded.
   
3. Accept the Terms and Conditions (if applicable).
4. Click the download button for the desired installation media type.
   

Important: If the specific patch/version cannot be located in either of the tabs, check the corresponding release notes first. Sometimes vCenter Server security patches and point releases are not immediately accessible through the standard Products/Solutions download navigation described above. Instead:

1. Access via Release Notes: Navigate directly to the specific patch release notes by searching for that version plus "release notes" in a browser.
2. Find Download Link: Look for the "Download and Installation" section in the release notes.
3. Click Patch Link: Click on the underlined word "patch" in the text "Log in to the Broadcom Support Portal to download this patch".
4. Download Files: This opens the patch download page with available files.
