Issue/Introduction

After removing Federation from a Global NSX Manager, Global Network Segments appear grayed out in the NSX Local Manager UI and cannot be successfully deleted.

Environment

VMware NSX

Cause

Lingering object dependencies—like connected VMs, VM templates, inventory groups, or Aria Operations for Networks (vRNI) IPFIX rules—prevent the segment from being successfully removed.

Resolution

  1. In vCenter Server, navigate to the networking inventory and identify any VM’s or VM templates connected to the impacted segment. Disconnect the VM’s or  templates from the segment.
  2. In the NSX Local Manager UI, Use the elastic search at the top to identify and remove the segment objects from any inventory groups or other dependencies they are still members of.

  1. Segment deletion process should complete once all associated dependencies have been cleared.

***********Should the issue persist after completing the aforementioned steps, and if no further dependencies are identified via the elastic search for the affected segments, please proceed to initiate a formal  Support Request.****************************************
