Issue/Introduction

Patch 10.9.1-300 for Messaging Gateway is available for download and installation.

This patch addresses the following issues:

  • Backup Now button no longer works on subsequent attempts after error.
  • Backup over FTP and SCP from the Control Center does not work in case when '@' is used in username.
  • "license-control -l"  CLI command results in "ERROR: Certificate file is not valid".
  • Adding a scheduled backup with SCPRSA protocol fails.
  • BCC fails to parse MTA logs when system timezone is set to use UTC offset notation.
  • An increase of DNS-timeout errors in the MTA log in SMG version 10.9.2.
  • Remote syslog logs significantly reduced after update to Messaging Gateway 10.9.2
  • Inbound mail may fail with the SMTP error "421 4.4.4 [internal] domain does not resolve".
  • Upgrade from 10.9.2 fails with error "sms-appliance-preupdate RPM is already installed. This is a error situation".

Environment

Version: 10.9.2

Resolution

The patch may be installed from the command line as follows:

  1. Log into the SMG command line as admin
  2. Run
    patch -p 10.9.2-300 install

Installing the patch using a local web server using the localinstall option

  1. Place the patch ISO on a Web server that is reachable from the Symantec Messaging Gateway server(s).
  2. Log in to the command line CLI as 'admin' (either through the console, or via SSH)
  3. Install the patch using the following command string:

     patch localinstall http://hostname/path/to/sms-appliance-patch-10.9.2-300.iso

  4. Repeat the above steps for each SMG system in the deployment.
