Issue/Introduction

You may observe the LCM error LCMVIDM74074 when updating VMware Identity Manager passwords after having directly updated them in an SSH session to the vIDM nodes.

Environment

VMware Identity Manager 3.3.7

VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle 8.18.0

Cause

This error occurs due to an SSH connection failure during the request.

When passwords are updated directly via SSH outside of the lifecycle manager, the standard SSH connection sequence encounters an error.

Resolution

To bypass this error and successfully sync your passwords, perform the following steps:

  1. Ensure that the new passwords are created/available in the LCM locker

  2. Retry the failed request in the UI.

  3. Type TRUE in the text field to skip the failing step, which will allow the request to proceed and complete.

  4. Select the new locker password entry as necessary during the request process if it is requested.

  5. Once complete, initiate an inventory sync of the global environment from LCM to confirm the passwords are successfully updated.

With the updated passwords in the locker and a successful inventory sync, future SSH connections to the nodes will succeed.
