Issue/Introduction

Symptoms

  • Inventory sync of the global environment fails.
  • The following error appears in the VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle UI: Error Code: LCMVIDM74074
  • Upgrade processes (e.g., to version 8.18 Patch 8) are interrupted during vIDM cluster patching.

Environment

  • VMware Identity Manager 3.3.7
  • VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle 8.18.x
  • VMware Cloud Foundation

Cause

This issue occurs because the root password for one or more nodes was updated directly via SSH or SDDC Manager, creating a mismatch with the credentials stored in the Aria Suite Lifecycle Locker. This results in an SSH connection failure during the automated request.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, synchronize the passwords in the Locker and bypass the validation check:

  1. Ensure the current, correct passwords are created in the Locker > Passwords section.
  2. Retry the failed request in the UI.
  3. When prompted in the text field, type TRUE to skip the failing step.
  4. Select the updated locker password entry when requested.
  5. Trigger an Inventory Sync of the global environment to confirm the passwords match.

Fixed in release 8.18.0 and higher. See Download Broadcom products and software for steps to download this release.
