VCF Operations VMware Cloud Foundation

Issue/Introduction

  • Attempt to configure a VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Instance from VCF Operation shows the following:

This capability is not applicable for your license. Ensure VCF entitlement is assigned for enabling the management capabilities.

  • VCF license is validated and applied to the VCF Instance and the vCenter.

  • The Management adapter is successfully syncing the vCenter license assignment.

Environment

  • VMware Cloud Foundation 9.x
  • VCF Operations 9.x

Cause

The issue occurs when multiple license records exist in the database for the same vCenter hostname. The system incorrectly selects a license that lacks the necessary entitlements (such as an expired evaluation license) instead of the active VCF license.

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.0.x. Engineering is working on a fix for a future release.

Workaround

The workaround requires modification of the VCF Operations database. To resolve this issue:

  1. Take a virtual machine snapshot of the VCF Operations appliance: Snapshot Creation in VMware Aria Operations
  2. Contact Broadcom Support and reference this Article ID (427406) to have a Support Engineer perform the database cleanup.
