Error while attempting to decommission host from Unassigned Hosts list "Failed to get allowed functionalities. Resource with type HOST, and ID null or Name null is not found"

Issue/Introduction

While attempting to decommission ESXi hosts from SDDC manager, we shall witness error message similar to "Failed to get allowed functionalities. Resource with type HOST, and ID null or Name null is not found".

Environment

SDDC Manager 5.x

Cause

SDDC manager database holds references to ESXi hosts but with status as 'Error' or not in 'Active' state. Multiple reasons can lead to stale entries in SDDC database.

• Hosts encounter hardware issues that cannot be recovered.
• Hosts removed from vCenter server.
• Associated cluster being removed.

Resolution

Please consult Broadcom Support to perform on call troubleshooting.

Note:

• Backup of SDDC manager virtual machine is required.
• SDDC manager services shall be restarted during the course of troubleshooting.

Additional Information

SDDC manager log bundle might be required by support.
