vSAN -- "vSAN Cluster Configuration Consistency" error is showing up along with "Stats Elections" (= Stats Primary Election)

Issue/Introduction

The following vSAN Health Alarms are observed:

 

• vSAN Cluster Configuration Consistency - Stats object policy configuration is inconsistent

Showing one or more vSAN Hosts

• Stats Primary Election - None of the listed Hosts are shown as "Is Stats Primary"

Environment

VMware vSAN (All Versions)

Cause

One or more vsan.stats Objects are in state "missing".

This can be determined by:

1.) Open a SSH/Putty Session to any of the vSAN Hosts

2.) Run the following command:

esxcli vsan debug object list | grep "vsan.stats"

 

3.) Output is showing one or more "vsan.stats" with state "missing"

Sample output:

Resolution

1.) Delete all vsan.stats objects(= folders) by following the steps outlined in the section "Resolution" in KB 401679

2.) Restart the vsanmgmtd service on all vSAN Hosts by opening an SSH/Putty Session to each Host and run:

 

/etc/init.d/vsanmgmtd restart
