Before upgrading to VMware Workstation Player 15:

Upgrading

To upgrade to VMware Workstation Player 15, you can use one of these options:

  • When you start VMware Player, you may be prompted for an available upgrade. Click Upgrade Now to perform the upgrade.
  • From the Player user interface, select Help > Software Updates.
  • Download the full installer from VMware, and run the installer to perform the installation.

    To download VMware Workstation Player 15:
    1. Navigate to the VMware Workstation Player Download Center.
    2. Based on your requirements, click Go to Downloads for VMware Workstation Player 15 for Windows or VMware Workstation Player 15 for Linux.
    3. Click Download Now.
    4. If prompted, log in to your Broadcom Support Portal. If you do not have a profile, create one. Refer this document for more information: Register for an account on the Broadcom Support Portal and Communities
    5. Ensure that your profile is complete and enter all mandatory fields. Refer this document for Updating profile details on the support portal
    6. Review the End User License Agreement and click Accept.
    7. Click Download Now.

Post-Upgrade

After the upgrade to VMware Workstation Player 15 is complete, power on the virtual machine and update VMware Tools:
  1. Click Player > Update VMware Tools. The VMware Tools installation Wizard starts in the virtual machine.
  2. Follow the steps in the Wizard and click Finish when the process is complete.
  3. Restart the virtual machine.
