Installing Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange
Perform a backup of the settings and Quarantine folder: (optional)
Please backup the Settings and Quarantine folder in case of any upgrade issues which is unlikely if all instructions provided herein are followed.
The Quarantine folder is in the default path:
C:\Program Files\Symantec\SMSMSE\<version>\Server\Quarantine
For the settings simply export them to an XML file

Please note that there is a chance that restoring these backups on a new installation/upgrade will fail if they are initially corrupted.
Run the setup file:
To avoid any potential issues during the installation, ensure that the liveUpdate or any manual scan is not running in the background prior to running the setup.
Then Close the GUI and run the setup file from the installation package of SMSMSE
Download the latest version of Symantec software (SMSMSE 7.10) from our public repository (FileConnect)

Run the Setup file as an admin Then follow the prompts on the screen as described in the implementation guide of the product:

SMSMSERoutingAgent AntiSpam has a Higher priority than the Microsoft Exchange AntiSpam Transportagents
SMSMSESMTPAgent AntiSpam has a Higher priority than the Microsoft Exchange AntiSpam Transportagents
