Support means that the particular version of Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange (SMSMSE) supports the Exchange version.
Certification means that SMSMSE has been fully tested with the specified version of Windows and Exchange.

NOTE: SMSMSE supports (is expected to work with) any underlying operating system that is supported by Exchange, including virtualized operating systems. The Exchange 2013 Edge role is supported only by the 7.5 release line.

Technical Support Note: For technical support, any version of SMSMSE that has reached End of Service (EOS) is no longer supported. Only the versions of SMSMSE in Article ID: 201292 are supported. SMSMSE is not supported for use with any Operating System or version of Exchange that has reached end of life.

Note: Certification indicates that Symantec has completed full Quality Assurance testing on each of the listed platforms with the listed versions of SMSMSE. A build can be supported on a platform without certification, certification is an additional level of assurance that Symantec has thoroughly tested the listed build against the listed platform. Symantec support will provide assistance in troubleshooting problems on any platform listed in the Support Matrix above, even if the build has not been officially certified on that platform.
