Issue/Introduction

Registering a Symantec Messaging Gateway (SMG) system for the first time using the command line interface (CLI) fails.

The license-control tool prevents successful licensing, causing the system to remain in an unlicensed state. This behavior primarily affects fresh installations during the initial bootstrap or configuration phase.

Environment

Symantec Messaging Gateway (SMG) versions prior to 10.7.4

Cause

A defect in the license-control utility prevented proper validation of registration data on certain network configurations.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in Messaging Gateway 10.7.4 and higher.

  1. Upgrade the system to version 10.7.4 or later.
  2. See Download Broadcom products and software for steps to download this release.
  3. Subscribe to Fix Status Updates to stay informed on future releases.
