This KB article is a quick reference for various upgrade scenarios for the Symantec VIP Gateway. Refer to the latest upgrade guide for more details. For your convenience, several upgrade guides are included below.
UPGRADING TO VIP ENTERPRISE GATEWAY 9.11 (or later):

INSTRUCTION TO UPGRADE TO VIP ENTERPRISE GATEWAY 9.9.2 ONLY (skip these steps if upgrading to 9.10 or later):
If you are running VIP Enterprise Gateway 9.9.1: Apply this patch, then use LiveUpdate or manually upgrade to VIP Enterprise Gateway 9.9.2. Your existing configuration settings are migrated during the upgrade.
If you are running VIP Enterprise Gateway 9.9.0: Use LiveUpdate* or manually upgrade to VIP Enterprise Gateway 9.11. Your existing configuration settings are migrated during the upgrade.
If you are running VIP Enterprise Gateway 9.8.0 or 9.8.4: Use LiveUpdate* or manually upgrade to VIP Enterprise Gateway 9.9.1. Your existing configuration settings are migrated during the upgrade.
If you are running VIP Enterprise Gateway 9.8.1, 9.8.2, or 9.8.3: Upgrade to VIP Enterprise Gateway 9.8.4 via LiveUpdate or manually by using one of the upgrade packages available in VIP Manager (Account > Download Files > Enterprise_Gateway), then upgrade to the latest available VIP Enterprise Gateway.
If you are running VIP Enterprise Gateway 9.1 through 9.7: Use the Export Settings feature to export the configuration settings from the existing VIP Enterprise Gateway. Then, install a new instance of VIP Enterprise Gateway 9.11 on a supported operating system, and use the Import Settings feature to import your configuration settings.
