Note: In VCF mode, the majority of passwords are managed by the SDDC manager rotation tool. Therefore, it is suggested to consider:

In case of having problems with the Password Rotation tool or remediating passwords on SDDC Manager, please file a Service Request for the VCF team.

Resolution


Locker is an application of  VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle (vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager) that manages and stores passwords, certificates, and licenses.


This article is focused on managing passwords. Locker only stores the passwords, the password updates tasks are managed by the Lifecycle Operations application.



On VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle you can update the passwords by:

  • Changing the passwords of the products: You will need the current active password of the product. In the table shown in the Details section of this article are available the child articles for changing passwords on Aria Suite products. 
  •  Find the current active password of the product  required to reset the password and then remediate the password on VMware Aria Suite LifecycleKB 302049

Locker and Lifecycle Operations can manage the following passwords:

  • Datacenters.
  • My VMware
  • Proxy.
  • VMware Aria Suite Products
  • VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle Appliance
  1. Datacenters.
Validate the password of a Datacenter, select the respective data center located on Lifecycle Operations> Datacenter, then click on the Edit icon.



  1. My VMware.
Located on Lifecycle Operations > Settings > MyVMware

Click on the Edit icon. 


  1. Proxy.
Validate the proxy Locker password alias under Lifecycle Operations > Setttings > Proxy


  1. VMware Aria Suite Product (vRealize Suite) passwords.
 Navigate to Lifecycle Operations > Environment, then click on VIEW DETAILS in the environment of interest, then select the Product of interest and validate the password information in the product environment page.

Some Locker Password Alias will be available at the Product Level:

Some passwords will be at the node level
  1. VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle:
The root and admin@local can be managed on Lifecycle Operations > Settings > Change Password.
