Issue/Introduction

This article describes the support policy for deploying and operating HCX in an environment running legacy vSphere versions.

vSphere End of General Support (EoGS)

Once the vSphere version has reached EoGS:

  • HCX Cloud Manager is no longer available for new deployments.
  • HCX Cloud Manager has Limited Support for existing deployments.
  • HCX Connector is supported for new and existing deployments.

vSphere End of Technical Guidance (EoTG)

Once the vSphere version has reached EoTG:

  • HCX Cloud Manager reaches End of Support for existing deployments.
  • HCX Connector has Limited Support for new and existing deployments for Data Center evacuation only.
  • A specific version of HCX Connector must be used for new deployments and existing deployments must be upgraded to that version.

After the specified Limited Support period in below table, HCX Connector reaches End of Support for existing deployments and it is no longer available for new deployments.

Refer to VMware Product Lifecycle Matrix for details on the support policies and status of each vSphere version.

These are the HCX support policies referenced in the previous section.

HCX Limited Support

  • VMware Global Support Services provides assistance via Support Request (SR) process.
  • Technical advice to restore services or workaround any issue, is possible.
  • Root cause analysis will not be performed for any issues.
  • Security or bug fixes will not be provided.

HCX End of Support

  • VMware Global Support Services will not honor Support Requests (SR) and does not provide any assistance.
  • The user assumes all risks for continuing to operate HCX in those environments and out of support conditions.

Refer to HCX Release Notes for more details on the VMware HCX Software Versioning, Skew, and Legacy Support.
