If you already have a perpetual license, if a time-limited license is applied by accident what happens?
Is the thee time-limited license is applied or is the time-limited license NOT applied?
CA 2E 8.7.x
When there is a perpetual license already installed and a time-limited license is applied on top of it, the entries for the matching product code + release are overwritten with the newly applied license in the licensing files.
For example, if you have the following entries on the YDSPLICPRD screen:
Prd Rel Product Description Release Expiry Max#
2R4 70 2E RPGIV ILE generator 7.0 12/31/35 999
2R4 81 2E RPGIV ILE generator 8.1 12/31/35 999
If you apply a time-limited license for product code 2R4, Release 81, with an Expiry date of 08/07/25 using the YGRTLICAUT command, the details for the 2nd entry on the YDSPLICPRD screen are overwritten (since there is a match for Product code - 2R4 and Release - 81). The details for other 2R4 record with Release 70 is NOT modified.
Any components which are not impacted by the time-limited license will still retain the previous perpetual license related timelines for that specific component.
The new time-limited license will then come into action only for the components mentioned in the new time-limited license and which have been re-applied using the YGRTLICAUT command.
It is suggested to take a look at the YDSPLICPRD command output to understand the timelines for each individual component.
