Issue/Introduction

Per-Period Metrics functionality in New UI is not returning appropriate data when relative dates (eg. Current Period, End of Current Year)  are used for 'Start Period' and 'End Period'

Environment

Release : 16.0.2

Component : Clarity MUX UI Usability

Cause

If fiscal time periods configured in your system does not follow calendar time periods. Below is an example for the same.

Resolution

The Start of Current Year and End of Current Year drop down values in Per-Period Metrics are designed to use the Start Date and Finish Date from active Fiscal time periods configured in the system. The column 'Period Year' in fiscal time periods is matched with Standard calendar year.

This means that when you use Current Year in your per-period-metrics Clarity checks the system date for the current year and then matches that to the Fiscal Periods that have that year for their fiscal periods.

If the fiscal time periods configured in your system do not follow the standard calendar time periods you always have an opportunity to select individual periods from drop down instead of Current Period and End of Current Year. So you will be able to filter the data for time periods as per your requirement.

Example:

For the above fiscal periods, let's assume the current year is in 2023.

In the table above, Fiscal Year 2023 starts 4/1/2022

The per-period-metrics will use April 1, 2022 thru March 2023 as the periods for current year.

Instead of 'End of Current year' you can select 'Dec 1, 2022-Dec 31, 2022'

Additional Information

The above is the current design.

Investigation is underway by engineering via DE67425 to change the 'Start of Current Year' and 'End of Current Year' options so that the View will start from the First Fiscal Period of the Current Fiscal Year. See this KD article for details.
