Issue/Introduction

You've exported your project to Microsoft Project (MSP) using the New Driver, but either some or all of your task dependencies (predecessors/successors) are not showing.

Why are you seeing this issue where dependencies disappear?

Environment

Release: All Supported Releases
Component: Clarity  Microsoft Project

MSP New Driver

Cause

This issue will occur if the language in the following three areas are not matching:

  • Windows Operating System
  • Language Format (under the Control Panel)
  • Microsoft Project

Examples:

  • If the operating system is set to Spanish:
    • The Language Format must remain in Spanish
    • MSP must also be installed in Spanish
  • The same would apply if the operating system is set to English:
    •  The Language Format must remain in English
    • MSP must also be installed in English.

Resolution

Check to ensure the language matches for all 3 of the below on the workstation:

  • Windows Operating System
  • Language Format (under the Control Panel)
  • Microsoft Project

Workaround:

To restore any lost dependencies (if a recent copy of the project exists in a non production environment):

  1. In Non Production, open the project into MSP
  2. Copy (or Manually add) the dependencies from non production into the production project

Important: If on versions 15.7 and lower, do not copy and paste entire task rows as this can cause issues. See: MSP copying and pasting tasks - supported method for Clarity for more details.
