Issue/Introduction

Screen mapping is set differently on the CA Gen z/OS Implementation Toolset (IT) than the CA Gen Host Encyclopedia. Both can be set in PARMLIB (TIRIT or TIRHE) but the value is not used for the remote file (IP -Implementation Package) which has already been created on the Workstation Toolset or CSE prior to residing in the z/OS IT. The required screen mapping option must be set on the Workstation Toolset or CSE before the remote file is generated.

Environment

CA Gen 8.x

Toolset, CSE, z/OS Implementation Toolset (IT)

Resolution

Set the system environment setting of TIMAPGEN to 1 for Standard screen mapping and 2 for Enhanced screen mapping. If TIMAPGEN is not set, the default is the Enhanced option. If using the CSE client, set the environment variable on the machine where the CSE resides.

If using the Workstation Toolset to generate remote files, set the PC system environment variable TIMAPGEN to value of 1 for Standard map or value of 2 (default) for Enhanced map using the following clicks:

Control Panel --> System --> Advanced system settings --> Environment Variables --> (System variables) New --> (enter variable name TIMAPGEN and value 1 or 2) OK

You will need to exit all the way out of Control Panel and then come back in to view the Advanced Settings and see the new variable. You do not have to reboot. You are now ready to generate a remote file for the selected screen setting.

If using the CSE Client to generate remote files, set the environment variable on the machine where the CSE server resides using the same steps described above. You will need to reboot the CSE to have the settings take affect. You are now ready to generate a remote file for the selected screen setting. Since this method is a global setting for the CSE, the opposite screen map can be used for selected modules by downloading a model or subset to the toolset and use the PC setting to generate the remote file.
