UIM - Run-time or automation error when opening probes in Infrastructure Manager

Issue/Introduction

When opening probes in Infrastructure Manager, a run-time and/or automation error appears:

Run-time error '-8147024703 (800700c1)':

Automation error

%1 is not a valid Win32 application.

 

This may also appear as:

Error executing command:

($path to the probe in question)

 

The actual error message may vary slightly.

Environment

This issue was discovered with UIM 8.51 and Infrastructure Manager 4.10 on a Windows 2008 R2 machine. However the information here is generally applicable to most versions of UIM and IM.

Resolution

The resolution here is to uninstall and reinstall Infrastructure Manager:

1. uninstall the IM client using add/remove programs

2. clear the C:\Windows\temp directory

3. reinstall the IM client

 

The latest IM client can be downloaded from the Nimsoft Support site.
