Issue/Introduction
Users experience an unexpected change in the content of XML VARA objects after upgrading the automation software.
In the previous version, the XML VARA successfully stored a standard XML declaration header, specifically: .
Following the system upgrade, this XML declaration line is automatically stripped or removed from the VARA object's content.
The removal of this line occurs during the upgrade process without providing any notification or information to the user.
Furthermore, there is no documentation found in the release notes regarding this specific change in XML handling.
Attempting to manually re-add the removed XML declaration line into the variable in the new version results in a system error.
The system prevents the save and displays the specific error message: "Invalid XML is entered into XML-Variable".
Environment
Product: Automic Automation / Automic Automation Engine.
Prior Version: Automic Automation v21.0.
Current Version: Automic Automation v24.4.5.
Database Migration: The issue coincides with a database transfer from a DB2 environment to an MSSQL database.
Encoding: A UTF-8 conversion process was executed as part of the upgrade path.
Cause
The exact root cause is currently under investigation by the Engineering team (DE211374).
A Support Engineer has successfully reproduced the issue in a controlled environment and confirmed the behavior.
Resolution
This issue will be resolved in a future version of the Automation Engine.
