Issue/Introduction

• Deployment of VCF Operations fails with the error:
  
  "Failed to deploy VCF Operations for networks platform node. Verify vCenter has sufficient resources and check vCenter tasks for errors."
• Deployment resources (vCenter/ESXi) have been verified as sufficient.
• DNS resolution is functioning correctly.
• Application of KB 446928 does not resolve the deployment failure.
• The deployment process completes on the platform machine, initiates a shutdown, deletes the virtual machine, and repeats this cycle multiple times before ultimately failing.
• Configuration phase failure is evidenced by logs (e.g., ovf_env_configure) containing: Failed to run cmd: [/hone/ubuntu/cli/bin/ntp.sh set "" false].

Environment

• VCF Operations 9.1.x
• VMware Cloud Foundation 9.1.x

Cause

The failure is caused by an empty NTP configuration property in the vApp settings, which is not populated during the initial OVF deployment.

Resolution

This issue has been reported to Engineering and is currently under investigation for a permanent fix.

Workaround:

1. Perform the initial deployment workflow for the collector and platform virtual machines.
2. Once the deployment process completes, power off the virtual machine.
3. In the vSphere Client, navigate to the vApp Options or Edit Settings for the virtual machine.
4. Manually locate the NTP parameter property and enter the required NTP server address.
5. Power on the virtual machine to allow the configuration script to re-run with the corrected parameters.
