Issue/Introduction

This article details the impact of the Morocco timezone (Africa/Casablanca) change occurring on September 20, 2026, where the country abolished Daylight Saving Time (DST) permanently. This impacts Dollar Universe environments where nodes or Management Units (MUs) are configured with the Africa/Casablanca timezone.

Environment

  • Dollar Universe 6.x and 7.x
  • Environment: Linux, Windows, Solaris, Unix (Any OS where the Dollar Universe node is configured with the Africa/Casablanca timezone).

Cause

The standard Africa/Casablanca timezone data in older Dollar Universe releases projects phantom annual DST cycles (like Ramadan pauses) that no longer occur. This causes a drift in local-to-UTC time conversions, leading to incorrect job launch times, calculation of "time overruns," and task scheduling issues in nodes relying on this stale timezone definition.

This will be solved via the defect DE209536.

Resolution

The resolution depends on your environment's version:

  1. For Dollar Universe 7.1.31 and higher: The necessary timezone data updates are included in the default distribution. Ensure your environment is running this version or higher.
  2. For Older Versions / If Upgrade is not immediate: If you cannot upgrade, please observe the following steps:
    • Monitor job scheduling and task status closely on or after September 20, 2026.
    • If you observe job processing discrepancies or tasks erroneously flagged as "time overrun," perform a stop/start (bounce) of the affected Dollar Universe node. This refresh often clears internal timing caches that rely on the stale timezone data.
    • Verify the underlying operating system's timezone data is up to date, as Dollar Universe nodes often reference the system-level timezone configuration.

Note: If your Management Units (MUs) do not use the Africa/Casablanca timezone, no action is required.
