Issue/Introduction

  • Navigate to the following path: VCF Operations UI > Manage > Fleet Management > Identity & Access > vCenter Custom Roles, for the affected vCenters, the Status column displays status of Failed.
  • Hovering over the error indicator reveals the message:

Salt infrastructure is down. Please try later.

Environment

  • VCF 9.1.0.0

Cause

  • The Salt infrastructure services are in an unresponsive or halted state, preventing the VCF Operations Manager from communicating with the vCenters to push custom role configurations.

Resolution

To restore Salt infrastructure functionality, perform a clean restart of the services:

  1. Log in to the VCF Operations UI.
  2. Navigate to Build > Lifecycle > VCF Management > Components.
  3. Locate Salt RaaS. Under ACTIONS, select Stop service, wait for confirmation, then select Start service.
  4. Locate Salt master. Under ACTIONS, select Stop service, wait for confirmation, then select Start service.
  5. Retry the push of vCenter custom roles under VCF Operations UI > Manage > Fleet Management > Identity & Access > vCenter Custom Roles. It is expected to succeed.
