DX Unified Infrastructure Management (Nimsoft / UIM)

Issue/Introduction

When selecting a process for monitoring and there are multiple processes using the same executable (ie. Java.exe).  These processes are distinguished by differences in the "Command Line" options.  When choosing one of these processes for monitoring using Operator Console profiles, only the first listed process is configured for monitoring.  This happens even if another process is chosen.  When multiple Java processes share the same binary path, Operator Console will default to the first detected instance, preventing individual configuration of another instance.

Environment

  • DX Unified Infrastructure Management (UIM) 23.4 and higher
  • processes probe 5.09 and earlier

Cause

This is a known issue tracked under defect DE686422, where the Operator Console interface cannot differentiate between multiple processes sharing an identical binary executable path.

Resolution

This issue is targeted to be fixed in a future release. For updates on this defect, please subscribe to this article (refer to How to Subscribe to Knowledge Articles).

Workaround:

  1. Open the Infrastructure Manager (IM) or Admin Console.
  2. Navigate to the processes probe configuration node for the affected robot.
  3. Configure the specific process instance monitoring directly within the probe interface rather than using the MCS profile.

Note: Once the fix is released, verify the release notes and download the update via the UIM Online Archive.
