Issue/Introduction

When creating a site pair between an HCX Connector and a VMware Cloud Director (VCD) Organization, the destination vCenter and NSX information may fail to populate within the HCX user interface.

This omission prevents the Service Mesh deployment wizard from completing successfully, as the necessary infrastructure metadata is missing.

Environment

  • VMware HCX 4.11.x
  • VMware Cloud Director (VCD) environments with Multi-Org configurations

Cause

  • A logic issue exists within the HCX Cloud Manager record creation workflow.
  • When the system processes a site pairing request for a target cloud where a REALM_PAIRED record already exists, it may incorrectly trigger a secondary update workflow.
  • This specific code path fails to initialize the destination vCenter and NSX attributes, leaving the infrastructure metadata blank in the HCX database.

Resolution

This issue is currently under review by Engineering.

  1. Gather technical support logs from both the source HCX Connector and the destination HCX Cloud Manager. (INCLUDE HCX Database)
  2. Open a support case with Broadcom Support and reference this article
  3. Provide the support case ID when uploading the gathered logs.
  4. Do not attempt to manually modify appliance database records. Manual modification is unsupported and carries significant risk to appliance integrity. Support engineering will validate the state of the REALM_PAIRED record and perform the necessary remediation safely.
