Error: "Only local DHCP server configuration is supported for IPv6 DHCP" (503247) while deactivating load balancing in VMware Cloud Director

Issue/Introduction

Deactivation of load balancing services on Tier-1 gateways in VMware Cloud Director fails with error 503247. This occurs when the NSX-T backing network provider contains stale or orphaned segments attached to the Tier-1 gateway, preventing the management plane from processing the update request.

Environment

• NSX: 4.x
• VCD: 10.x
• TCP: 3, 4.x, 4.0.1, 5.x, 5.0. 5.0.1, 5.0.2

Cause

A stale network segment residing in the NSX-T environment remains attached to the tenant's Tier-1 gateway. This orphan segment creates a persistent dependency that causes the system to detect an invalid configuration state, triggering validation failures during load balancer deactivation.

Resolution

1. Perform a Backup: Before performing configuration changes in the NSX-T management plane, perform a backup of the NSX-T Manager and the VCD environment.
2. Log in to the NSX-T Manager UI.
3. Navigate to Networking > Segments.
4. Locate the network segment associated with the #### Edge Gateway load balancer or service engine.
5. Verify the segment is no longer in use by any active virtual machines or services.
6. Delete the identified stale segment in NSX-T.
7. Navigate back to the VMware Cloud Director portal.
8. Retry deactivating the load balancer. The system synchronizes successfully, allowing the load balancer configuration to be disabled.
