Issue/Introduction

When attempting to use an outbound instance with an OAuth2 credential for Scheduled Reports, Job/Task completion emails, or Dashboard "Share via email" features in Aria Operations, the action fails.
The exact error message encountered is: "OAuth2 credential configured but no beforeSend handler provided." This failure occurs regardless of how accurately the credential is configured because Aria Operations currently restricts OAuth2 support exclusively to the Alert Definitions email flow.

Environment

Aria Operations 8.x
VCF Operations 9.x

Cause

Aria Operations / VCF Operations currently supports OAuth2 exclusively for the Alert Definitions email flow (real-time notifications via Notification Rules). The underlying functionality required to process OAuth2 authentication has not been implemented for other email flows, resulting in the failure regardless of how accurately the credential is configured

Resolution

Extending SMTP OAuth2 support to reports, job notifications, and dashboard sharing is not currently on the product roadmap, meaning there is no immediate software fix or workaround using OAuth2 for these specific flows. Customers are highly encouraged to submit a feature request detailing their use case so the product team can review it for future releases. Step-by-step instructions for submitting a feature request can be found in Broadcom KB Article 379107.

  • Supported Flow: Alert Definitions email flow (real-time notifications via Notification Rules).
  • Unsupported Flows: Scheduled Reports, Job/Task completion emails, and Dashboard "Share via email".
