Error: 500 Internal Server Error when Registering VCF Operations in Disconnected Mode

Issue/Introduction

When uploading the configuration file to the VCF Business Service Console (BSC) during VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Operations disconnected mode registration, the operation fails in the user interface with an internal processing error.

The VCF BSC console displays an internal processing error: 

HTTP 500 Internal Server Error

 

Environment

VCF Operations 9.1

Cause

The uploaded registration payload contains stale network metadata referencing a decommissioned License Server alongside the active License Server. The presence of the unreachable legacy server entry invalidates the configuration parsing logic during payload validation, causing the VCF BSC backend service to return an unhandled HTTP 500 exception.

Resolution

To resolve the issue follow the action plan below:

• Open the VCF Operations disconnected mode registration configuration interface.

• Edit the License Server settings section to review all defined License Server endpoints.

• Delete the stale entry corresponding to the old, decommissioned License Server, ensuring only the active License Server remains listed.

• Save the updated configuration and re-execute the disconnected mode registration workflow in the VCF BSC console.

• After registration succeeds, proceed with assigning licenses to vCenter.
