VMware Live Recovery

Issue/Introduction

In VMware Live Cyber Recovery, the Cloud Platform status transitions from GOOD to CRITICAL. This state occurs when connectors fail to reach the cloud file system or authentication endpoints, resulting in connectivity alarms.

  • Cloud Platform status shows CRITICAL in the VMware Live Cyber Recovery UI.
  • Alarms indicate: VMware Cloud Services are unreachable.
  • Connector logs show the following errors:
    • CSP request failed with status 500
    • Error code 322: Connection reset
    • Error code 303: Failed to get client app-id
    • java.net.SocketTimeoutException: connect timed out

Environment

  • VMware Live Cyber Recovery (VLCR)
  • VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)
  • VMware Cloud Services (CSP)

Cause

This condition typically results from one of two distinct faults, which may occur concurrently:

  1. Upstream Platform Disruption: An issue within the Broadcom CSP authentication infrastructure (access.broadcom.com) prevents token generation.
  2. Local Infrastructure Issues: Intermittent local DNS resolution failures or network egress blocks on Port 443 prevent the connector from reaching the cloud proxy.

Resolution

To resolve the connectivity alarms, perform the following steps in order:

  1. Verify local DNS server stability and ensure consistent hostname resolution for autosupport.datrium.com and Broadcom cloud endpoints from the connector.
  2. Execute the tls_monitor script or a similar network poller to check for TCP/TLS timeouts on Port 443.
  3. Audit local firewalls and proxies to ensure unrestricted outbound traffic to designated cloud proxy IP ranges.
  4. If local network stability is confirmed but CSP errors persist, check the Broadcom Service Status page or contact Support.
