'java.lang.NullPointerException' in VCF operations when attempting to upgrade domain with NSX

Issue/Introduction

• NSX 4.2.x and vCenter 8.x have been imported into VCF 9.1.

• A VCF upgrade of the domain shows as failed with error 'java.lang.NullPointerException'

• In NSX under System > Upgrade, the upgrade shows:

  Upgrade has failed, Try to fix the issues and 'Retry Upgrade' else connect GS to initiate rollback

• Clicking on the failed status shows error:

  SegmentPortAttachmentMigratioTask Unexpected error while upgrading upgrade unit: Data migration jar is not running

• Workaround from KB VMware NSX General error or java.lang.NullPointerException error during upgrade did not resolve the issue.

• Running NSX API GET api/v1/upgrade-mgmt/plan shows 

  "upgrade_status":"PAUSED","source_version":"#.#.#.#","target_version":null

• In the NSX manager log, /var/log/upgrade-coordinator/upgrade-coordinator.log

  ERROR task-executor-4-1-workitem-MP-SegmentPortAttachmentIdMigrationTask WorkItem 1598876 SYSTEM [nsx@6876 comp="nsx-manager" errorCode="MP30062" level="ERROR" subcomp="upgrade-coordinator"] Error encountered while upgrading upgrade unit SegmentPortAttachmentIdMigrationTask
  com.vmware.nsx.management.upgrade.plugin.mp.exceptions.MPUpgradeException: null

This issue is resolved in VMware NSX 4.2.3, available at Broadcom downloads.
