Virtual Machine (VM) servers are missing from the Spectrum Console or appearing as duplicates/conflicts after cloning or inventory changes.
Devices in DX UIM (OC) Inventory are identified as Virtual Machine under Device Type, but fail to synchronize correctly to Spectrum via the spectrumgtw probe.
Cloned systems may be reporting identical cs_id information to the database due to an uncleared NIS cache (niscache).
Product: DX Unified Infrastructure Management (Nimsoft / UIM)
Component: spectrumgtw (Spectrum Gateway Probe)
When systems/VMs are cloned without properly clearing the niscache or resetting the device ID, multiple robots can report identical information to the UIM database. Furthermore, obsolete inventory and interface cache files in the spectrumgtw probe directory can prevent updated device definitions from synchronizing properly to Spectrum.
To resolve duplicate entries or synchronization issues for a server identified as Virtual Machine in OC > Inventory, perform the following steps:
Open Infrastructure Manager (IM).
Select the target robot.
Open the probe utility menu by pressing CTRL + P.
Execute the command: nis_cache_clean
Execute the command: reset_device_id_and_restart
Navigate to OC > Inventory.
Search for and select the affected server.
Click Delete to remove the device from inventory
Note: Check the boxes for Acknowledge alarms and Delete measurements if prompted.
spectrumgtw Cache FilesIn Admin Console, deactivate the spectrumgtw probe.
RDP / login to the Primary Hub server.
Navigate to the spectrumgtw cache folder:
.../Nimsoft/probes/gateway/spectrumgtw/cache
Delete the following cache files:
InterfaceCache.dat
InventoryCache.dat
Activate the spectrumgtw probe.
Open the spectrumgtw configuration interface.
Navigate to Configure > Actions.
Run the following actions:
Update Inventory Now
Synchronize All Inventory Now
Verify in the Spectrum Console that the servers are now visible and correctly modeled.
