Issue/Introduction

  • After applying a patch to VCF Operations 9.1, the product version may reflect as updated in the user interface even though the lifecycle management patch task remains in a failed state.

  • The upgrade sub-task Inventory Sync Post Upgrade fails with below error.

    Error: Refresh component in Fleet lifecycle
    Error: Fleet lifecycle '####' refresh has failed.

    Error: Step post_upgrade_inventory_sync failed. Reference Code: FDDF034A.

  • The /storage/vcops/logs/component-manager-plugin-UUID.log reports below error:

    ERROR component-manager-plugin 32181 [ops@4413 threadId="516" threadName="ServerConnection on port 10000 Thread 25" operationId="ID"] [com.vmware.vrealize.lcm.lcops.util.ValidationHelperUtil.validate] - INVENTORY_VALIDATION_ERROR :: Instance Limit exceeded for :: LI Allowed number of instances is :: 1

Environment

VCF Operations 9.1

Cause

The inventory sync fails because a duplicate or orphaned Log Management instance exists within the Fleet LCM component inventory. VCF Operations enforces a strict 1:1 instance limit.
The presence of a secondary orphaned record violates this validation check during the post-upgrade synchronization.

Resolution

In order to resolve this issue, we need to delete the duplicated Log Management instance and retry the task. Reach out to Broadcom Support for assistance referring to this KB 449801
