Issue/Introduction

In Admin Console, one or more hubs may appear with a red 'down' status within the Admin Console. This occurs even when the hubs are verified as active and functional via other management tools.

  • Hubs intermittently or consistently display as offline (red) in the Admin Console.
  • Legacy Infrastructure Manager (IM) correctly reflects the hub status as online (green).
  • Hubs remain in a down state in the Admin Console even after a refresh or logging back in.
  • The issue is typically observed in environments with large numbers of hubs or high latency between components.
  • The hub(s) may turn back to green if restarted manually, but will turn red again after some time

Environment

  • Observed in DX Unified Infrastructure Management (UIM) 23.4 CU3, CU6, likely affects all versions prior to CU9

Cause

The Admin Console identifies a hub as offline if it does not receive a status update within a hardcoded 11-minute timeout. Because healthy hubs can naturally exceed this 11-minute interval between status updates, the Admin Console incorrectly flags them as unresponsive. Additionally, the Admin Console lacks a mechanism to automatically trigger a status refresh once a hub is marked offline. Restarting the hub forces the status update to be pushed through from the hub side and may turn the hub green again, but it will turn red again if another update is missed.

Resolution

This issue is tracked via defect **DE684196**.

  1. This issue is targeted to be fixed in release UIM 23.4 CU9.
  2. The fix introduces a configurable time interval key, `hub_unresponsive_interval`, located in the `wasp` probe configuration file: `wasp.cfg`.
  3. A new API call is included to automatically refresh the hub status if the Admin Console receives an offline status signal, ensuring the display remains consistent with the actual state of the hub.
