VARA.FILELIST timeout or slowdown when scanning large directories on Windows Agent

Issue/Introduction

When using a File List Variable (VARA.FILELIST) targeting a directory on a Windows agent (typically a network share/DFS) containing a large number of files (e.g., >10,000):

• The "Preview" function fails to return data or results in an empty set.
• The Automic Web Interface (AWI) may throw a timeout error.
• The job remains in "Generating" status for an abnormally long period.
• Log messages U02000446 and U02000447 show a significant time gap (e.g., 6x slower than previous versions).

• Windows Agent 24.4.2, 24.4.3, 24.4.4hf2

Cause

Product Defect- DE208157.

Resolution

This issue is a confirmed defect and is planned to be fixed in a future release
