Issue/Introduction

When using the PGP Encryption Cloud Server, the Secure Portal can be configured to notify senders when a recipient has collected or opened an encrypted message. This feature is often referred to as a "Read Receipt" or lesser known "Collection Notification."

This article describes read receipts and how they work. 

Resolution

By default, the PGP Encryption Cloud Server is configured to provide a notification to the sender once an encrypted email has been successfully collected from the Secure Portal by the recipient.

Read Receipts offer nonrepudiation so that the sender knows the recipient has viewed the message. 

This is a backend notification triggered by the Secure Portal upon message decryption/access. 

The service can be configured to either Enable or Disable these notifications based on organizational requirements.
