Issue/Introduction

When navigating to an Organizational VDC in the VMware Cloud Director (VCD) Tenant Portal, virtual machines (VMs) may not be visible. This issue typically occurs when the user accesses the Virtual Machines view and the underlying database contains duplicate identifiers for a single VM model.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.5.x

VMware Cloud Director 10.6.x , 10.6.1

TCP 5.1

Cause

  • Virtual Machines do not show in the user tenant or Tenant Portal.
  • Clicking on Virtual Machines inside the Organizational VDC triggers the following error:
[ ########-####-####-####-############] org.hibernate.HibernateException: More than one row with the given identifier was found: ########-####-####-####-############, for class: com.vmware.vcloud.common.model.VAppVmModel

Resolution

To resolve this issue, the duplicate database entries must be removed manually. Because this requires direct database modification, you must contact Broadcom Support for assistance.

  1. Identify the VM ID from the error message.
  2. Take a backup of the Cloud Director database.
  3. Contact Broadcom Support and reference this Article ID (375563) to have a Support Engineer run the necessary SQL cleanup scripts.
