Issue/Introduction

Users may observe incorrect usage data within the PaaS Accounting Report in Apps Manager. This data often filters through to Incorta reporting via Telemetry tooling, showing significant spikes in Average Instances (AI) or Max Concurrent instances that do not align with actual foundation metrics.

  • The Accounting Report shows an abnormal spike in Average Instance (AI) counts (e.g., an unexpected 8000+ increase).
  • Comparison between foundations shows one environment reporting correctly while another shows inflated metrics.
  • Healthwatch or manual metric collections do not show corresponding spikes in the foundation.
  • Discrepancies may appear specifically during monthly metrics reporting runs.

Environment

VMware Tanzu Application Service (TAS)

Apps Manager Accounting Report

Cause

This issue is currently under investigation by engineering. Preliminary analysis suggests a potential issue with how usage data is stored or retrieved from the Cloud Controller Database (CCDB).

Resolution

This issue is targeted to be fixed in a future release of Tanzu Application Service.
