Issue/Introduction

File Events (EVNT.FILE) using the "File size stable" check remains in a "Sleeping" status indefinitely following restart of the agent.

This occurs even after the agent reconnects and the target file is available.

Example scenario:

  1. Create and start a File Event (EVNT.FILE) with a "File size stable" check on a Linux/Windows agent (v24.4.4+hf.1 or 24.4.4 HF2).
  2. Ensure the target file being monitored does not exist.
  3. While the event is active, shut down the agent.
  4. Start the agent again.
  5. Check the status of the File Event.

Expected results: The event reconnects/restores its session and resumes checking for the file.

Actual results: The event gets stuck permanently in a "Sleeping" status and performs no further checks.

  • File events are stuck in "Sleeping" status.
  • Agent logs show the event was removed during shutdown: U02000162 Event '[RunID]' was removed from event list.
  • Agent logs show error: U02000123 Error in function isPathDirectory_d(): the system cannot find the file specified.
  • The event does not resume polling after the agent service starts.

Environment
