Unable to upgrade VMware Aria Operations for Networks from version 6.14.1 to 6.14.3 within VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle upgrade workflow

Issue/Introduction

• In VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle, when attempting to upgrade VMware Aria Operations for Networks from version 6.14.1 directly to version 6.14.3, the target version 6.14.3 does not appear as an option in the upgrade workflow. This issue occurs even though the upgrade binary bundle has been successfully uploaded to the /data directory on the VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle appliance and mapped correctly.

Environment

 

• VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle 8.18 Patch 8

• VMware Aria Operations for Networks 6.14.1

 

Cause

• An upgrade mapping path validation issue within the VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle workflow logic prevents the system from directly recognizing or executing an upgrade from version 6.14.1 to version 6.14.3.

Workaround

To successfully upgrade to version 6.14.3, you must perform a multi-step upgrade sequence:

1. Upgrade VMware Aria Operations for Networks from version 6.14.1 to version 6.14.2.

2. Once the upgrade to version 6.14.2 is complete, proceed with the upgrade from version 6.14.2 to version 6.14.3.
