Issue/Introduction

After applying PTF LU18677 (DISALLOW EDIT ON QUEUED/TEST POLICIES), attempts to edit an Active policy in Dynamic Capacity Intelligence (DCI) result in an error.

Symptoms:

  • Error message: Queued policy not editable. Stop policy to edit.
  • Inability to modify policy definitions via ISPF while the policy is active.

Environment

  • Dynamic Capacity Intelligence (DCI) 2.0
  • PTF LU18677 applied

Cause

PTF LU18677 enforces a rule where any policy in a Queued or Test state cannot be edited. This ensures policy consistency and prevents users from bypassing the DCI Policy Consistency Check.

Resolution

To safely edit the active policy without losing DCI management, use a temporary "buffer" policy:

  1. Copy the active policy (e.g., POL1) to a temporary name (e.g., POL1_TEMP) using the C line command.
  2. Activate POL1_TEMP for a specific duration (e.g., 10 minutes) using the AC line command.
  3. Stop the original policy (POL1) using the P command.
  4. Edit the original policy (POL1) using the E command.
  5. Queue the updated original policy (POL1) using the Q command.
  6. DCI automatically switches back to the updated version of POL1 once the duration for POL1_TEMP expires.

Additional Information

  • Ensure the activation duration for the temporary policy is sufficient to complete all intended edits.
