Issue/Introduction

When navigating to the Backups tab for a newly created service instance in Tanzu Hub, the interface displays an HTTP 400 error instead of an empty list.

This occurs because the UI does not gracefully handle the initial state where no backups have been recorded.

Symptoms:

The following error message is displayed: Upstream HTTP Error: 400, Could not invoke operation GET /v3/service_instances/{args.service_instance_guid}/backups

Environment

VMware Tanzu Platform - Hub 10.4.0
VMware Tanzu Platform - Hub 10.4.1

Cause

This is a known product defect where the Tanzu Hub UI incorrectly interprets an empty response from the upstream backup API as a client error (400) rather than a valid empty state.

Resolution

Resolution: The issue is currently under investigation by the product team and is targeted to be fixed in a future release. To stay updated on the fix status, subscribe to this article (reference: Article 275360).

Workaround: The error does not impact the backup function in HUB. To get rid of the error for a specific service instance and enable the Backups tab view:

  1. Navigate to the Service View for the impacted instance.
  2. Select the Actions menu in the top right.
  3. Select Backup to create a Backup.
  4. After the backup process completes, click the Backups tab. The list will now populate correctly without the 400 error.
