When attempting to modify virtual machine settings, the vSphere Client fails to load data and displays a backend timeout error.
The /var/log/vmware/vsphere-ui/logs/vsphere_client_virgo.log contains the following exact error strings: Task 'Adapter com.vmware.vsphere.client.spbm.impl.ProfileProviderAdapter' timed out after 120000 ms and was cancelled. Failed to retrieve profile content: java.lang.InterruptedException com.vmware.vsphere.client.spbm.impl.PbmServiceUnableToConnectException: java.lang.InterruptedException The query execution timed out because of a back-end data adapter 'com.vmware.vsphere.client.spbm.impl.ProfileProviderAdapter' which took more than 120 seconds.
vCenter Server Appliance 8.0.x
The VMware vSphere Profile-Driven Storage Service (vmware-sps) enters an unresponsive or deadlocked state, preventing the vSphere Web Client from retrieving storage profile data within the required 120-second timeout window.
Reboot the vCenter Server Appliance (VCSA) to perform a clean reinitialization of all management plane services.
Once the appliance has rebooted, verify that all services, particularly the vmware-sps service, have started correctly and are running without errors.
Log into the vSphere Client and verify that virtual machine settings can now be modified successfully.
